Robert John Curtin passed peacefully from this earth on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the age of 88.

Robert was born on February 15, 1931 in Bronx, New York to Cornelius Curtin and Gisella Hacker. Robert graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School and served first in the National Guard and then for four years in the United States Air Force. He ventured over to both Japan and Korea during the Korean War where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He admirably received several decorations while serving including the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the ROK President Unit Citation. Robert was also awarded a special Airman of the Month honor and was awarded a Manhattan weekend getaway with his wife. He had an honorable discharge from the Air Force in August 1958.

Robert married Arlene Magda at St. Margaret Mary parish in the Bronx, New York on April 8, 1956. They met at a CYO dance in Yonkers. They lived in Newburgh, New York and then moved to Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Their only daughter Jeannine was born there.

Robert worked most of life beginning in 1974 for United Parcel Service as a tractor trailer driver in New Jersey. He officially retired from UPS in 1991. After his retirement he moved with his wife Arlene to Louisville, Kentucky. He also worked part time at the YMCA and volunteered to assist with military burials.

Robert loved to garden and spent hours sprucing up weeping willows, shrubs and gorgeous trees. When they moved from Englishtown to Kentucky, folks asked who their landscaper was and dad replied, you are looking at him. Robert was a great dancer and enjoyed military, Clint Eastwood and other classic films, along with all kinds of music. He possessed a larger than life personality and had a tremendous sense of humor.

Robert is pre-deceased by his older brother James, who resided in Saville, New York. His surviving siblings are Charles Curtin, who currently lives in Wellington, Florida, and George Curtin and Anne Quinn who currently reside in Gilford, New Hampshire. Robert will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years Arlene, and his daughter, Jeannine.
