Obituary

Petrona (Pepi) Alarcon de Ramos, 90 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on February 9, 2021. She was residing in Lynchburg, Virginia over the recent months with her son and his wife. She left this world after being infected with COVID at a Rehab facility where she was recuperating from leg surgery. She fought the COVID virus and after-effects for the last six weeks.
She was born to Julian Alarcon and Ana Arnez on January 31, 1931 in Oruro, Bolivia. She married Armando Ramos in 1948.
Pepi is survived by son Tito Ramos and his wife Julie Rountrey, daughter Virginia (Vicky) Ramos Marketti and husband Michael Marketti, and daughter Johanna Ramos. Grandchildren: Jason Ramos and spouse Tracey Ramos, Nicole Ramos Botkin and spouse Chris Botkin, Leslie Ramos and partner Jay Langston, Michael Joseph Marketti and spouse Kristine Marketti, Julian Armando Marketti and spouse Amy Abadir Marketti and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by family members in Northern Virginia as well as in La Paz, Bolivia.
Pepi was predeceased by parents Julian Alarcon and Ana Arnez, sisters Aida Alarcon and Valica Alarcon.
Pepi, at 34 years old in 1965, took a quantum leap and came to America, by herself, to see if our family should make a move. She laid the foundation for our family to come to the USA and have a wonderful life. There was four of us when we finally made the big move. Johanna was born in America. Now with the children, spouses, in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren our family has grown by leaps.
Our nurturing, kind, loving, courageous and very amazing mother has gone to heaven!
She fought COVID 19, came home and celebrated her 90th birthday, but 20 days later we found that there was more damage from the virus. She was diagnosed with COVID pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
On Tuesday February 9, 2021 she left this earth and joined her husband of 71 years. Her three children were with her as she took her last breath! Being her child was like winning the lottery every day! She is the new angel and brightest star! We will miss you every minute of the day.
We love you Mama and will carry you in our hearts forever.

Donations in Pepi’s name can be sent to Friends of Homeless Animals in Aldie, VA (foha.org)
