Kenneth Russell Chamberlain, age 49, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on December 19, 2018, after a year-long struggle with lung cancer. Ken was born March 10, 1969 in Riverside, California to Jacqueline and Russell Chamberlain.
With a BA in political science from the University of California, Riverside, and Master degrees in both Political Management, from George Washington University, and Interactive Journalism, from American University, Ken started as a news assistant at the Press-Enterprise (Riverside, CA) while in high school, and during his more than 30 year career worked for Mental Health America, CongressDaily/National Journal, and Sightline Media Group.
Ken was a devoted, loved and respected husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He contained multitudes: marathoner, journalist, photographer, historian, soccer player, science enthusiast, political junkie, and mentor. His kindness, generosity, intelligence, patience, curiosity, and sharp wit will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Ken was preceded in death by both his parents, Jacqueline and Russell Chamberlain. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Alexandria; his sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Michael Crockatt of Riverside, California; his uncle, Thomas Chamberlain of Riverside; his aunt and uncle, Mary Lou and Kenneth Calkins of Oregon; his aunt and uncle, Teresa and John Chamberlain of Chile; his sister- and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Jared Andrews of Virginia; his sister-in-law and nephew, Lisa and Jacob Jones of Maryland; and many cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held on January 12, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at Hope United Church of Christ, 6130 Old Telegraph Road in Alexandria, Virginia. Reception afterward.
