Katy Fakess went home to see her Lord on May 13, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at home in Arlington, Virginia after a long battle with cervical cancer. Her dramatic entrance into the world on February 15, 1983 at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida forever changed our lives. A self-proclaimed “Navy Brat”, Katy lived and was schooled in Corpus Christi, Texas, Coronado, La Jolla, and Victorville, California, Orlando and Tampa, Florida. In adulthood, she lived and worked in Mesa Arizona, San Diego, California, Tampa, Florida and Arlington, Virginia. Her last job was as a Barista at Starbucks in Arlington, Virginia where she was a customer favorite. Katy dearly loved the Lord and her family. Her wit, cheerfulness and infectious positive attitude drew her to and touched the lives of people everywhere she went. Katy was full of life, bold, playful and fun. Sweet and genuine she easily connected with people and never seemed to ever meet a stranger. Her daddy's "Princess" to the very end, her absolute favorite past time was hanging out with him. The last 3 years of her life, though ill, the time she spent with him brought her so much joy. Her father was her caretaker, and she was his self appointed protector and bodyguard. She enjoyed music, singing, theater, watching biblical movies, spending time with and spoiling her nephew and nieces, and attending festivals and sporting events. A huge fan of 80’s and 90’s music, she regularly enjoyed attending pop and rock concerts. A girly girl, she loved shopping, especially at her favorite store, Victoria’s Secret, getting her nails done and donning her Mary Kay make up.
