Herbert A. Coquelin "Herb" ,87, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away February 3, 2019.
Herbert was born to Karl and Anna, December 5th 1931, in New York. After graduating from high school, he served in the Army for 13 years. He married Ann Coquelin in 1955, and they lived together happily for 63 years. Together they raised two children, Robert and William.
Herb was a computer programmer with the Department of Navy until he retired in 1984, and worked until 1994 as a consultant. Throughout his life, he remained passionate about expanding his knowledge. An avid reader, he read countless books covering a wide range of topics. After retirement, he became a folk dancer and an accomplished wood carver, creating awards for several associations. In the last few years of his life, he became an avid boxer.
He leaves as his legacy his son William Coquelin. He was preceded in death by his son Robert. His family remembers him as kind, caring, and generous with his time and knowledge.
The family would also like to thank those closest to him for the help and support throughout the last few months. There will be a graveside service at 2 PM, Saturday February 16th at Columbia Gardens located at 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington Virginia 22201.
