Arthur Lohrmann, age 95, died of respiratory failure at Fair Oaks Hospital on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Born October 30,1922 in Annapolis, Maryland, Arthur had also lived in Odenton and University Park, Maryland. He was married to Betty for 63 years, who predeceased him in 2014. For more than 25 years, Arthur and Betty had spent their winters in Ocala, Florida.
Arthur attended Severn Preparatory School in Severna Park, Maryland. In the early 1940's, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Third Army of General George Patton in France, Germany and Belgium during World War II. Arthur landed in Normandy two days after the D-Day invasion. He served in the Signal Corp and was particularly proud that his unit helped locate German railway artillery guns.
After the war, Arthur worked as a printer and inventory manager for the U.S. Printing Office for 25 years. He retired in 1981 and enjoyed the next 37 years with his family, barbershop singing, traveling, and church activities. Arthur loved the Lord, his family and his country.
Survivors include Arthur's sister, Dorothy Ball; his son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Diane; his son, Glenn and daughter-in-law, Paula; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation and memorial service for family and friends will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3799 East-West Highway, Hyattsville, Maryland 20782 on Friday, March 9, 2018. Visitation from 10-11:45; Memorial Service at 12 noon and Reception following.
